Dan Marino announcing his retirement from the Miami Dolphins and the game of football on March 13, 2000.
A full transcript of the speech can be found in the Dan Marino section.

Danny, obviously, had some tough moments during his press conference.

Marino speaking to the media, friends, family and former players in the Dolphins training facility.

Dolphins head coach Don Shula (1970-95) coached Marino in his first 13 years as a pro. Don Shula and Dan Marino have the most victories for a QB-Coach tandem in the NFL's history. Owner Wayne Huizenga watching Danny make his speech. Huizenga announced that "no man will ever wear the number 13 again".

Marino took questions from reporters.
The city of Miami changed the name of 199th street near Pro player stadium to Dan Marino Blvd.
The Dolphins also placd a life size statue of Marino outside the stadium.

Danny also had some laughs during the retirement speech.

Dan was drafted on April 26, 1983, and he stayed in Miami his entire career. On October 9th 1983, Dan Marino and Mark Duper made their first starts of their career. Marino had 322 yards and Duper had 7 catches for 202 yards.

Claire Marino was very emotional during the press conference.
In this picture she's holding their adopted daughter Niki.

DID YOU
KNOW ?
In 1979, Dan Marino was the 4th round pick of the Kansas city Royals in the baseball draft. In the very late rounds the Royals would pick former Bronco QB John Elway.

AND MORE...
The USFL's Los Angeles Express made Dan Marino the first ever pick in the USFL draft when they took him with the first overall pick of the first USFL draft. They obviously knew much more than 26 NFL teams that picked ahead of the Dolphins in 1983.
